Background

1. Introduction

Zion Temple worship centres are revival–driven Churches planted by the Authentic Word Ministries International around the world according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This Ministry started its church planting program in 1999 Kigali . Since then other Zion Temple Churches have been planted respectively : in Arusha (Tanzania ) , Burundi , Congo , Denmark, London and Brussels and very soon in France. In Rwanda there are also other two Parish Churches: Zion Temple Sonatubes and Zion Temple Gisenyi and shortly a new Parish Church will be opened in the city of Butare. These centres are not just temporary places of God’s visitation, but God’s dwelling places. (Psalm 132:13-14). Indeed there is a well-known slogan mong Zion Temple members that says “Zion Temple, the place where God is”.

“The fire is kept burning on the altar continuously , it does not go out” (Leviticus 6:6). The vision of Zion Temple Church is the same as the vision of the Authentic word Ministries International .The vision is to “ Prepare the the Bride of Christ to meet the Groom.” (Amos 4:12).

The goals of Zion Temple church are:
  • 1. Speak the Authentic Word of God
  • 2. Equip and empower the belivers (spiritually and socially)
  • 3. Collect errors that have been made in the past
  • 4. Preach the Message of the Kingdom

Zion Temple Celebration Centre of Kigali has two weekly fellowship services and daily intercession and evangelization. Included also are special programs such as fasting prayers or overnight prayers. Many people attend these worship services; Sunday the Church hall is full; up to more than five thousand people attend.

This church is now five years old but what has been accomplished in these five years is beyond human understanding. It is indeed “….not by mi might nor by power, but by the Spirit”. (Zachariah 4:6). Many nationals and foreigners have conducted investigations and researches to discover why this church seems to be different from other contemporary churches. In the same spirit we tried to learn more about this wonderful calling.

The least of you will become a thousand , the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly (Isaiah 60:22).

2. Historical background

The Vision.

In 1992 ,in the city of Kisangani (Ex Zaire now the Democratic Republic of Congo), God gave a revelation to a group of college students who were having dailly prayer meetings, interceding for the world and for the Church in general. The revelation was about God’s intention to raise an army of “end times warriors” around the world , to prepare the arrival of the King of Kings – the Lord Jesus Christ. A fellow student now a man of God by the name of Paul led the this group of students. They started thinking and meditating about how they were going to begin this gigantic enterprise, but the Spirit of God would not allow them to. He instructed them to wait until further notice. The holy Spirit exhorted them instead to remain in brotherly communion and fellowship until the time appointed by the Lord to begin this worldwide ministry.

God’s vision for this ministry was an end time revival movement that will reach every corner of the world, through a mighty army of servants both fully committed and equipped to fight and win the battle for the Lord. The army will be made of people devoted to the Lord, uncompromising in their love they will face. In 1995 , three years after the Vision was given , God gave the go ahead for the ministry to start, and revealed both the name and the location where the ministry will be headquartered. God gave the name of Authentic Word and the ministry was going to be headquartered in Kingali, the capital city of Rwanda.

The Authentic Word ministry was divided into five branches in order to accomplish its vision that is “To prepare the Bride of the Lamb”:
  • 1. Church planting
  • 2. Mission and Evangelisation
  • 3. Samaritan Heart
  • 4. Socio-Economic Empowerment, and Development.
  • 5. Information and Communication.
